More Than Just a Sponsor: A Friend for Life 

At ROTOM, Senior Friendship isn't  just a program; it's the cornerstone  of our mission. Like its name  suggests, the Senior Friendship  Program is all about creating  genuine connections between  vulnerable seniors and  kind-hearted friends from all over  the world. Over the years, these  friendships have become a life-line  and a reminder to our seniors that  they're not alone in their struggles. 

At 80 years old, Jjaja Margaret knows all too well the sting of loss.  Having lost her two siblings who  were her pillars of support and  cherished companions, she was  overwhelmed with stress and  loneliness, and didn't know where  to turn. Even her grandchildren,  struggling themselves, could only  offer limited support.  

Thanks to ROTOMʼs Senior Friendship Program, her life story  recently took a positive turn when she  was matched with a new support  friend from Uganda. The timely  monthly contributions from Jjaja  Margaretʼs new friend now ensure  that: 

1. She has access to essential medical  care in a comfortable, geriatric-sensitive  environment at the ROTOM Health  Center 

2. Enjoys bi-monthly fellowships  with other seniors where she can  listen and share Godʼs word, pray,  sing, dance and enjoy a balanced  nutritious meal.  

3. Is visited by a ROTOM field  nurse, field assistant/volunteers  and staff who monitor her physical,  spiritual & emotional wellbeing. 

4. and most importantly, she now  has the re-assurance that she isnʼt  alone in this world. Someone loves  and cares for her. 

The ROTOM Senior Friendship  Program is a testament to the  transformative power of human  connection. Without the dedicated  support we receive from friends  near and far, ROTOM's mission  wouldn't be possible. It's through  this collective compassion that we  ensure the most vulnerable, frail,  and forgotten seniors in our  communities experience a life filled  with dignity and purpose.
